Ironic

[Verse] (melody 6-5-3... 1-2-3)

    A D A Bm
An old man turned ninety-eight
            A D A Bm
He won the lottery and died the next day
       A D A Bm
It´s a black fly in your Chardonnay
       A D A Bm
It´s a death row pardon two minutes too late
          A D A Bm
Isn´t it ironic ... don´t you think

[Chorus] (melody 8-7-6-5... 3-5-6)

         A D A Bm
It´s like rain on your wedding day
            A D A Bm
It´s a free ride when you´ve already paid
              A D A Bm
It´s the good advice that you just didn´t take
    C G A
Who would´ve thought ... it figures

[Verse]

   A D A Bm
Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
   A D A Bm
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids good-bye
              A D A Bm
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
           A D
And as the plane crashed down he thought
A Bm
" Well isn´t this nice ... "
              A D A Bm
And isn´t it ironic ... don´t you think

[Chorus]

         A D A Bm
It´s like rain on your wedding day
            A D A Bm
It´s a free ride when you´ve already paid
              A D A Bm
It´s the good advice that you just didn´t take
    C G A
Who would´ve thought ... it figures

[Bridge]

      Gmaj7 A
Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
                            Gmaj7 A
When you think everything´s okay and everything´s going right
     Gmaj7 A
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
                                       Gmaj7
You think everything´s gone wrong and everything blows up
         A
In your face

[Verse]

  A D A Bm
A traffic jam when you´re already late
     A D A Bm
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
          A D A Bm
It´s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
                  A D
It´s meeting the man of my dreams
                     A Bm
And then meeting his beautiful wife
              A D A Bm
And isn´t it ironic ... don´t you think
        A D A Bm
A little too ironic ... and yeah I really do think ...

[Chorus]

         A D A Bm
It´s like rain on your wedding day
            A D A Bm
It´s a free ride when you´ve already paid
              A D A Bm
It´s the good advice that you just didn´t take
    C G A
Who would´ve thought ... it figures

[Outro]

Gmaj7 A
Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Gmaj7 A Gmaj7
Life has a funny, funny way --- of helping you out

Helping you out
