The Cardinal Song (A Birdie Told Me)

You’re clearly meant to catch my eye

Those red feathers outlined by sky

Singing a song I wish I could memorize

Do you have a scroll tied to your feet

I’ve been waiting to hear from somebody

If you’re meant to catch my eye

And I’ve been searching for a sign

Maybe you carry mine

A little birdie told me

Tomorrow the sun is gonna rise

And when it reaches morning

You might find yourself surprised

But the answer you’ve been needing

Is already found deep inside

A little birdie told me

You already know the sun is gonna rise

Maybe you’re more than what you seem

I’ve been watching you watching over me

Even appearing in my dreams

More than a sign,

Could you be my guide
